Advanced questions about Slipmats that dont have straight forward answers

Can I use a slipmat on different turntable types?
Yes! All turntables will work with slipmats, but to use them for scratching, like an old skool hip hop DJ,  then you tend to use the slipmat on a direct-drive turntable, but for cosmetic enhancement, they work perfectly fine on older belt-driven or even on acrylic platters.

Do slipmats affect bass or treble?
Denser mats like cork or rubber can tighten bass and smooth treble on a high-end system and audiophiles will endlessly argue one way or the other.

My advice is that YES they do, BUT and its a big BUT, It will greatly depend on the record you're playing AND the quality of the turntable, AND how good the needle is AND the quality of the amps that process that sound AND the speakers that create the final output.

The mats are just one step in that long and complicated chain. and every component needs to be at the top of their game but then YES, adding a mat can subtly change the tone. see which works for your setup and, importantly, your music taste.

Do slipmats affect tracking force?
Another complicated question, with no hard answer, I'd say yes they do, but only slightly.. because with proper tonearm calibration can always you ensure optimal playback. this is the sort of thing that comes into play as your vinyl collection gets bigger, your system more complicated and your vinyl changes with age and storage.
